RIGS
Spurdogs are hard fighting small sharks. They were in abundance off Holyhead in the seventies and eighties however suffered from over fishing for the commercial market.

In recent years spurdogs have made a welcome return to Anglesey.

Such is the ferocity of these pack feeding sharks, all anglers on the boat can be hooked into big double figure fish at the same time.

Rigs can be simple single hook running ledgers or 3 hook flowing rigs. Personally I prefer a beefy single hook. Where we fish for spurs you will more often than not get hit by a tope. Further more 3 spurs thrashing about the deck can be a nightmare. Quite often people will fish trace wire for spurs, thus saving on mono being chaffed, however again I find strong mono 100 - 150lb adequate.
