Small
codling can be found over most grounds fishing from Holyhead, out
towards Langdon Ridge, west to Holyhead Deep and around to corner in
Trearddur Bay.
The numbers of codling though are not that consistent and vary
throughout the year. They can range from just under a lb to a good
6lb'er. I've yet to land anything bigger on My Way over the last
couple years. It seems most of the codling holiday for winter in the
River Mersey.

| Rigs
again don't need to be complicated. I would suggest a simple running
ledger and of around 4 - 6ft long and on the business end either 1 large
hook or preferably 2 large hooks forming a pennel rig. |
| Locating
cod on the drift over rough ground or wrecks, baited white feathers or
hokeyes work well. |

| BAITS |
| Fresh
peeler crab, black lug, squid and blow lug |
|
| METHOD |
| Best
tactics for fishing for cod around Holyhead are uptiding. Using big baits
to help entice that elusive cod to your hook. |
