Fish Identification - Wrasse Rock Cook

The Rock Cook is another small member of the wrasse family and is classed as a mini specie with sizes rarely exceeding 8oz.

It has quite a small head on a deep and plump body. The rock cook also has a very small mouth, with large fleshy lips.

It has a 2 section dorsal fin, with the anal fin half the length of the dorsal.

Colourations vary from a dark golden brown to a greenish brown

Rock Cook Wrasse has a very distinctive dark band across it's body at the base of the tail fin.

The Rock Cook is possibly the hardest fish to catch when aboard My Way.

There are specific areas where they can be targeted, however it can be frustrating fishing through the Corkwing and Goldsinny wrasse looking for the Rock Cook.

Smallish hooks around size 8 or 10 fished slightly off the bottom with ragworm bait.
