On Saturday October 17th 2009, Holyhead Charter Boats Coegfran, My Way and Spindrift will be holding a sponsored fishing event to help raise funds to send a very brave girl on a very special  Christmas holiday.

Please read on for a little information on the trials that have burdened Courtney so far in her young life.

Courtney Rose Jones has been battling serious illness since she was just 17 months of age. Courtney's first tumour, took doctors 6 months to diagnose. Following which, she endured many sessions of chemotherapy for 18 months. Sadly after battling through chemotherapy a 2nd brain tumour was found and before she had reached her fourth birthday she had already endured 30 doses of radiotherapy.

To compound the problems of the first tumour, Courtney contracted MRSA and with the 2nd tumour required a shunt be put in to help ease the problems. Then last year, Doctors and Courtney's loving family feared she would not pull through as her body started shutting down when a 3rd tumour was removed, cellulites was found and her general health and well being was very poorly..

Courtney was given oral chemo, to help fight the condition but could only take two doses as then a chest infection hampered her recovery further. Sadly, the extent of her illnesses and extreme medication was proving to be too much for her frail body.

Now aged 11 years old, this young lady still strives to live as normal a life as possible and is no doubt an inspiration to many people from all walks of life. Courtney is a pupil at Ysgol Llangoed on Anglesey and it is our hope to raise sufficient funds to send our young gem on  the best family holiday this Christmas, that anyone could wish for.

Our local newspaper The Chronicle's  has already acknowledged the battles Courtney has been through and she is currently their Child of the Year for 2009.

Lets Fish for Courtney
Gethyn and Gareth are looking for anglers to fish for free aboard their vessels My Way and Spindrift. All that is asked for is that the anglers participate in the sponsored event and raise money to help swell the Christmas holiday fund.

We are looking at running on each boat, 2 x 4hr fishing trips with each boat setting sail with 10 anglers aboard. Further trips and boats can be looked at should the uptake require this.

There is no minimum amount to raise, but how does £50 sound? I'll even supply the bait!

Just to add that little bit of fun, it will be fancy dress. No theme - come as you wish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you'd like to help make this Christmas extra special for Courtney, please feel free to email me or call 07971 924046
Any additional funds raised will be given to a charity of Courtney's choice.

Sponsor packs will be available from August 01st

07th Sept 2008 Change of plans for Courtney’s holiday.
Our initial plan for Courtney’s holiday was to be along the lines of Disneyland Paris or a great Christmas break with her family, Centre Parks being the firm favourite; the latter being eventually chosen. Sadly though, Courtney has to return to hospital for further treatment over the next few weeks, followed by some months of recuperation.

However her consultant at Alder Hey is confident that following treatment, she will be well on the road to recovery in the New Year and confirms Courtney will be well to travel from March of 2010.

With this in mind our fundraising efforts and plans are to go ahead unchanged, with Disneyland Paris now as our destination giving Courtney something to plan and look forward to after successful period of recuperation.

We all wish Courtney the very best, and look forward to seeing her soon.

As the build up to the event continues, thanks go to the following, if I've left your name off, apologies.

More will be added as time goes on - needless to say we are not taking part for the thank you, but the support is certainly appreciated by us all - so a BIG THANK YOU anyway
