Dawn Hutchison is going to climb Snowden in May 2009 to raise funds for the Porthdinllaen Lifeboat in memory of her father and local fisherman Maldwyn Jones who tragically lost his life at sea last year. Dawn take the 3560feet trek on May 02nd 2009.

I was fortunate to have met Maldwyn on a number of occasions, especially during the Anglesey Boat Angling Festival which I ran for 5 years, both Maldwyn and his son Haydn joined in the fun, fishing and a few beers in the evening . A keen angler and pot fisherman, it was with great sadness that I learnt of Maldwyns death in such tragic circumstances.

Having returned to Wales from Cheshire a couple years earlier, Maldwyn looked to retire near to his place of birth and work the sea as a whelk fisherman. Haydn always kept me up to date with Maldwyns efforts and especially his love of being near and working the sea on a daily basis.

Unfortunately on 28th April last year the coastguard was alerted to Maldwyns boat circling just off Trefor Point with no one on board. Sadly Maldwyn was not found and it was a further 5 weeks before the sea let him go and his family could lay him to rest.
